Duck * Working Decoy Home Made c1930-40
Details
A handsomeworking decoy was made at home during the Depression. The generic design touched by the effects of long hours working in the duck pond has given her that distinct primitive look of folk art. Neck plate set within the body ~the lines are visible in our photo. Her head was applied separately. Wing markings are white-washed on the surface and her breast onto stomach is painted the same. Her condition is overworked. Age and wear patterns are correct. The top surface of her head is broken off along the crown back to front. The top 1/4" of the interior stick that supports head & neck is sticking out of her crown. You can wiggle the head a tiny bit, if you wish, but it is still secure on the neck, which is perfectly secure in the body. 15" long beak to tail; stands about 7 1/2" tall from top of head to base and width is about 6 1/2.
