What began life as a gentleman's watch fob of Substance has become a lady's pendant necklace with Impact. This goldstone fob is made of four stones in graduated sized, set in gold filled fittings and chains.
Goldstone is not a stone. It is a glass. A glittering, colorful, mystifying glass. It is also known as aventurine. One reference resource suggest that goldstone was invented by the Miotti famiy in Venice in the 17th century. Another reference refers to 12th/early 13th century goldstone amulets that were found in Iran. All references agree that the beginnings of the manufacture of "modern day" aventurine glas, the type of goldstone used in jewelry, was during the 17th century, and was in Murano Italy.
This fob measures about 3-4" long. It hangs on a gold filled 18" chain, not original. This lovely piece will be delivered to you in a new gift box.
