A beautiful walnut made of sterling silver, dating to the late 19th century. The walnut twists open to hold a thimble. The interior has a rim on each half and this is designed to lock in place, so your thimble will not pop out unexpectedly. The silver is so beautifully worked, the walnut shell is absolutely life-like. This quality piece is marked Mexico Sterling and is also marked with the artist’s initials that have been obscured by ages of rubbing. 1 ½”L X 1 3/8”W X a hair under 1 ¼”H. In lovely condition.
