A handy handsome countertop piece, this step back apothecary is well over 100 years old.  It is home made and original.  Small square, hand-cut nails ~ dovetailing here and there but not everywhere.  The person who put this together was frugal and used whatever was on hand.  Some of the drawers are cigar box parts.  You'll see our photo of the interior of one, with its charming cherub print and the words TABAKE DE HABANA.  (Must have held some good Cuban stogies!)  This particular drawer has some sweet faded graphics on the outside, too.  Other drawers show random lettering and numerals, one the word LESS, all in black ink in archaic font.  Nice and heavy, weighing in at 12#, unpacked.  This little step-back will not topple over as your searching for your saffron.  And it can be put to work in any room.  The kitchen for spices, the bathroom for tiny necessities like cotton balls and Q-tips, the sewing room for needles and pins, the workshop for nuts and bolts, the bedroom for diamonds and gold.

Get organized.  Or don't.  This piece displays beautifully, so let it sit on the mantle and do nothing but be a joy to behold.  Warm with the patina of age, this piece shines on its own.  20"H X 7"D X 14"W
