A charming doll dress made of a checkered calico print. After examining the fabric, we believe the print to be fugitive purple faded to brown. The calico print is intricately designed with plaid, polka dots and abstract repeat designs. The dress is entirely hand stitched.
The bodice is plain with a neck designed to take a fichu or bertha collar. The front of the neck has the remnant of a pretty little silk ribbon bow sewn to it. The skirt is cartridge pleated and has a flirty ruffled hem. The back opening was designed without buttons, snaps or hooks. It had been sewn or pinned to the doll. The sleeves are gathered and have a pretty ruffle at their hems, reflecting the ruffle at the skirt's hem. Shoulder to shoulder: 4", waist: 8", shoulder to front hem 9".
