It is the small touches that make a house a home. This late Victorian show towel is one of them. Made of fine quality linen damask, it dates to c1880-1900. At each end of the towel are bands of rich Turkey red in a floral and foliate design. Framing these wide bands top and bottom are borders of Turkey red in complimentary patterns, the top border narrower than the bottom.
At each end of the towel, fringes of linen pulled from the towel's body are in perfect condition, 5" in length. Measures 41 inches in length plus another 10 inches for the fringe at each end, and a width of a shade over 24 inches, you'll find this size to be more generous than the usual found in towels of this period. In very fine condition, with a mellow golden patina of age. There are two tiny age spots, little more than pin dots, that we can find. These are pictured in our photos. This is a show towel that would serve perfectly in a guest bath, as a runner on a table or dresser, and it would even make a dear little warm weather shawl or fichu, if you like. Also, it would be a distinctive wedding or shower gift for someone who enjoys antiques. Free USA Shipping, Handling, Insurance
