Our favorite working shorebird decoy. He dates to the early 20h century. His cork body is gracefully carved into a sandpiper or similar, preening. He is ex-collection and is attributed to Thomas Hewlett, Long Island, NY.
6 1/2" chest to end of tail, 3 1/2" from top of head to bottom of belly. He stands 11 1/2" tall on the rod, and the base has a 4 1/2" diameter. The bird has original glass eyes and applied wings. He is simple and he is magnificent.
