$75.00

This set of pre-Victorian sash buckles is very dear. Made of individually riveted cut steel beads, the beads go repeat from a single larger to a pair of smaller. This pattern brings the buckles to life, giving them dimension.  Adding to that is the light shooting at all angles, off the faceted quality steel beads.  The prongs to the buckle look so much like rose gold, I tested them. They test to 12kt rose gold.  That being said, common sense tells me that they might be gold cased.  Gold is a soft metal and it is questionable about how well it would work as a buckle of this style on its own. These buckles were most likely made for the upper crust.  It does stand to reason that real gold would have been used in their design, but I would think for useability, the real gold would be reinforced with steel.

Each button measures 1 1/2" horizontally, 1 3/8" vertically. They are completely functional today, needing only a sash of silk to hold together.  Beautiful condition!  Free USA Shipping, Handling, Iinsurance
