Impeccably designed and made, these pillow shams date to the end of the Belle Epoch period. Clean and crisp and ready to turn your bedroom into a luxurious oasis. The shams are made of a finely woven, substantially thick linen or linen/cotton blend which is overlain with net and lace. Both the net and the lace are soft and pleasing to the touch. The lace has detail, texture and dimension. Each sham was designed to be a mirror image of its mate. Used gently, stored properly and showing virtually no signs of age, normal use or prolonged storage. In fact, the only imperfection we can find is minor ~ the lace has a few random breaks or loose/missing threads, not evident. You have to search them out. The shams are large ~ 25"W x 19"H. The continuous 3" ruffle adds to the size. One end of each opens for you to insert your pillow. The open side has a button closure with plastic dome buttons in a sweet open-cut design. Whether these are original or not, we can't say. There are no telltale holes or thread marks to lead us to think they are not original. The condition of the shams overall is top-drawer. Crisp white with no stains or soil spots, no dust or attic surface, no odors, no rips or tears or holes to the fabric and only the minor imperfections to the lace, already mentioned. A gorgeous set of Victorian shams that will make a statement. Originally $240, now priced at $185 for the pair.
