Hardcover book.  Written by W. Fletcher Johnson (1857-1931 ~ American author, journalist, lecturer and for twenty years foreign and diplomatic editorial writer for The New York Tribune). Edgewood Publishing Company, 1891. The history of Chief Sitting Bull and the history of the Indian War of 1890-91. The title page tells us this book is "PROFUSELY ILLUSTRATED", and that is correct. There are plenty of interesting photographs, etchings, and a map of the "Bad Lands and Scene of Indian War".  This book is in fair - O.K. condition, with wear to cover, some staining on a few pages in the back of the book, and a photo page with the portrait of White Thunder has come loose with the photo itself undamaged.  In fact, I can find no damage, stains or other flaws to any of the illustrations. The black ink of a number of the photos has turned over the decades to a sienna or brick-ish color, as you can see in our own picture of sample photos. Despite the condition, this text is easy to read in that it is clear with minimal attic surface to the text pages, and the pictures are wonderful to see.  A book packed with the important history of that portion of America's past. 8" X 5 3/4" X 1 1/2"   Free USA Shipping, Handling, Insurance by USPS Media Mail
