A basket so rare and so beautiful, it qualifies as folk art. Our dough basket, made in the New England area, has canted sides and was woven with splints. It also has the unusual attribute of having a small section of its rim woven into loop form for hanging. The basket bowl dates to c1860-70. 4 1/2" high; 13" across. Scattered traces of old dough stuck to the rye are an asset, if you ask me. No repairs, no restoration.
