Why we love this toy train ~ it is an historic piece of our country's history. During the world war era, there were considerable limitations on the use of metals. They were needed for the war effort. And so, wooden toys became the thing. This one is especially significant, as it is not the usual freight or passenger train, but a train that carried military vehicles. The are two tank cars with moveable parts. The engine car and nicely stenciled, and the caboose has tiny riders, one front and one back. The cars were held together with twine and later, bits of wire that are now gone. The engine is 12"L, each of the other cars is 8"L. In good condition with mild signs of wear and age proving that the train has been enjoyed by tots.
