A lovely antique silk brocade dress for a doll, dating to the era immediately following the Civil War. The dress fabric is burnt orange. The bodice has a single, wide box pleat in front, extending up from the waist. There are tucks gathered in the waistband, extending into the skirt. These tucks show as pleats at the waistband, and gathers in the skirt. The sleeves are the charming bell form so popular during that era. Closure down the back with no buttons or snaps, as made. The dress was pinned or sewn to the doll. Top-stitching on the bodice, down the back by the opening, the sleeves and the skirt. It is all in pale gold or yellow. There is a double row around the neckline and a double row 1 1/2" above the hem. Suspended from this latter double row is the sweetest top-sitched garland that goes all the way around the skirt. It is in these fine details that antiques offer as a large part of their appeal.

The dress is machine sewn with some hand stitching. Measurements shoulder to shoulder: 4"; waist: 7"; shoulder to front hem: 9" . The dress is in very clean, sound condition, with only the most minimal surface abrasions and tiny thin spots scattered around, not noticeable.  Free USA Shipping, Handling, Insurance
