Our little black girl. We found her in England and from the looks and information we gleaned, she is attributed to "Pedigree of England" manufacturers. She dates to c1940-50s.
I'd like to say she is made of hard plastic, but when you look at the interior of her hollow arms and legs, it looks like a sort of composition. However, she is light (so easy with which to travel) and beautifully molded (so pretty to show off). Her body is jointed, her eyes oddly bright blue, her earrings large hoops ~ so becoming to her sweet face. I love this little girl. She is marked on the back of her neck, but age, use and wear have made the letters or numbers unreadable to me.
Her dress is hand stitched and has survived the generations without a single moth nibble, rip or hole. She has little panties that match her dress. She is a shade under 15" tall and strung together with elastic. She tells me she would be more comfortable with a restringing, but I say she displays beautifully just exactly as she is.
