An American splintwood gathering basket, made exactly like an adult's but sized for a child. Dating to the late 19th century, and all original in its dry, unpainted surface. The basket has an applied rim and its original small round-head nails. The dark wear surrounding the nails is exactly as it should be. The two bentwood handles swing easily and securely. In very, very good condition with just a bit of wear to the surface of one handle, with one small area of shallow flaking, visible in our photo. 9 1/2"L X 6 1/8"D X 2 3/8"H. Swing handles when upright add another 3" to the height. A little antique gem found in the Adirondacks of NYS.
