Often mislabeled as laundry baskets, this style basket was made for late 19th/early 20th century city bakeries to distribute their loaves of bread. Often before dawn, bakers would load the baskets and distribute baked goods to various restaurants, markets, hotels and other spots that would sell them. Our wood splint basket has a thick double rim and wood belts down the sides and along the bottom. Each end has a thick handle, completely strong and dependable. Sides were painted, not for decoration but to lengthen the life of the wood. Made to hold hefty bundles, this basket is as sturdy as they come. 32 1/2"L X 20 1/2"D X 11 3/4"H. Add another 2 1/2" to height for the handles. Pick-up is possible to save on shipping.
