An inviting bucolic setting makes this handsome hand tinted engraving desirable. The work is entitled Jersey Heifers and was published by Rogerson and Turford in London in 1877. It is so marked. The subtitle of the work tells us that these two heifers belonged to Mr. Henry Middleton of Cutteslowe, Oxford. Our research has shown us that Mr. Middleton is mentioned in both the Journal of the Bath and West of England Society and Southern Counties Association and the Journal of the Royal Agricultural Society of England as having award winning heifers.
This engraving is simply wonderful. It is serene and peaceful and has a tranquil, comforting feel to it. It would benefit any room. The engraving, which appears to be original, is beautifully and appropriately matter and framed in suitable materials. A gallery label remains on the back, saying Lapham & Dibble Gallery Inc., Box 22 Shoreham, VT. Framed piece 14 3/8" X 12". Originally $150.00, now $110.00.
