A big, bold, beautiful black doll named Jessie, sculpted and signed by Carol Manning expressly for Arnett Country Store in Illinois. Dating to c1970-80s, this line of limited editions was originally created by Maynard Arnett. Called Farm Kids Dolls, they were made as a tribute to the farm children of 19th and early 20th century America. This doll is from an approved exact replica line sponsored by Arnett Country Store and is signed on the back and head. The doll is all original. She is a rare, larger size, standing about 24" tall. Her cloth body is hard stuffed with Excelsior. Her head, feet and hands are hand carved from a wood/resin mix. You can see traces of the tool marks. Her hair is mohair and her clothing is of early fabrics.
All that aside, this doll is the sweetest little tot in the world. Look at her eyes. How expressive! And the look on her face is one of hope and anticipation combined. Her clothing is original and made of fabrics distinctive of the era. Jessie is a marvelous tribute to Arnett's original Farm Kids dolls. She is heavy, weighing about 6 pounds unpacked. She is a lovey-dovey and you'll want her as a constant companion. How can you resist? Picture her under a Christmas tree.
She is from an impressive Black Americana collection that focused on American black dolls. She is in gorgeous condition. (The toy tins and cricket are not included in this sale. This is for the doll alone.) SOLD
